The SWIFt Testbed
SWIFt is a research, product development and test bed facility available to SME’s, scale ups, larger organisations, and academic institutions. To support and accelerate the development and adoption of digital technology and wireless networks-based solutions. SWIFt is based in the Engineering Building at NTU’s Clifton campus. The Clifton campus is a secure area, owned by NTU and therefore makes an ideal test bed facility.
SWIFt provides state of the art facilities for companies and academic institutions to innovate in the areas of digital technologies and wireless networks through the provision of an electronics work shop, a showcase/demonstration room and wireless networks including LoRaWAN and 5G installed internally and externally across the campus.
5G Network
The SWIFt testbed offers access on a commercial basis to a state-of-the art private 5G network internally and externally on a Non-Stand Alone (NSA) and Stand Alone (SA) basis.
NSA features:
- 5G NR on Band 78
- LTE anchor point on band 3
- NB-IoT Service
- Nokia NDAC 4G/5G core
SA Features:
- 5G NR on Band 78 3.6-3.8GHz for indoor
- 5G MR on Band 77 3.8-4.2 for outdoor
- ORAN architecture (CD and DU deployment)
- Druid 5G Core
LoRaWAN IOT Network
The SWIFt testbed includes low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) capabilities together with other cutting edge connectivity technologies. More specifically, the network protocol that was provisioned by Digital Catapult is LoRaWAN, which is designed to connect wirelessly resource-constrained devices to the internet over very long
distances at very low power.
